Choose Natural Ingredients
When you start creating your own healthy recipes, keep a few things in mind.
Always use wholesome ingredients.
Trying to figure out what is healthy to eat and what is unhealthy can be tough, so follow this rule . . . keep everything as natural as possible.
Natural foods should include fresh produce, whole eggs, free-range poultry and lean meats. The goal is to use foods that are not processed as often as possible plus these foods do not contain trans-fats, preservatives or any of the other chemical additives that can make them dangerous to eat.
Use Organic Fruits, Vegetables and Meats Whenever You Can
If you are currently following the Diet Solution Program, you already know where Isabel stands in regards to organic foods. You want to choose organic meat, poultry and produce because these are the foods that don’t contain synthetic chemicals, sewer sludge or genetically engineered materials.
Prepare Food Using the Right Kind of Oil
There are plenty of recipes that want the food to be sautéed, baked, fried or grilled. To try to keep these foods on the healthy side, instead of using shortening and vegetable oil, use olive oil, real butter or coconut oil. These are the healthy oils and can also add nutritional value to your meals.
Coconut oil is outstanding when deep frying foods. Use olive oil and real butter for sautéing.
Warning! Do not deep fry your foods in olive oil or butter or you risk starting a fire!
Olive oil can also be used to coat your meats and vegetables before you grill or bake them.
Experiment With Your Recipes
That’s one of the fun parts of cooking. Swap out ingredients you don’t care for with ones you love. Try using healthy ingredients when you can. But keep in mind that you do not have to deprive yourself of delicious meals in order to lose weight.
